Are you eligible for TReDS?
TReDS is a set of RBI-licensed exchanges where banks bid to finance MSME invoices. Whether you can use it depends on your buyer, not on you.
The test is your buyer
You can only finance an invoice on TReDS if the buyer named on it is registered on an exchange. Your own eligibility is not the constraint - any MSME with Udyam registration can sign up as a seller.
Under the MSME Ministry notification of 7 November 2024, every company above ₹250 crore turnover and all central public sector enterprises are required to register. Since June 2026, CPSEs must also route MSME invoice settlement through it.
How to find out
- Ask your buyer’s accounts payable team whether they are registered, and on which exchange. There are four, and a registered buyer will know immediately.
- If they are, register as a seller on that same exchange. Registration for MSME sellers is free or nominal.
All four exchanges are licensed by the Reserve Bank of India. Registering is between you and that exchange.
How pricing works there
Financing on TReDS is an auction. Financiers bid against each other for your invoice and you choose a bid, so what it costs depends on your buyer’s credit standing, the tenor, how many financiers bid that day and the rates at that moment. There is no published rate to compare against, and we do not claim to know whether a given invoice would clear cheaper there or here.
If your buyer is not registered - and below the ₹250 crore threshold there is no obligation to be - then TReDS is not open to you at any price, and the comparison that matters is us against waiting for the due date.
